How to Animate a Photo with AI: Motion, Sound and Before/After Transitions

Photo-to-video generation is the fastest way to get a clip without filming: you upload one frame and the model turns it into a living scene with camera motion and sound. Here is how it works and how to get the most out of it.

What happens to your photo

The model uses your image as the first frame of the video and "continues" it through time: people breathe and move, water flows, light shifts, the camera glides. Everything that was in the frame keeps its appearance — it is animation, not repainting.

Works especially well for:

• product shots — you get an ad-style orbit with light sweeps;
• food — steam, glistening sauce, kitchen ambience;
• portraits and old family photos — a delicate "living photo" effect;
• landscapes and interiors — atmospheric b-roll for any video.

First & last frame mode

The most underrated trick: upload two images — an opening and a final frame — and the model generates a smooth transition between them. Which photos work

• At least 512 pixels on the shorter side; the sharper the frame, the better.
• JPEG, PNG, WebP. iPhone HEIC photos convert automatically in Tegas — upload them as they are.
• The main subject should be fully visible: the model animates what exists in the frame.
• Avoid large text and logos in the shot: video-model content filters may reject such clips as potential brand infringement.

Describing the motion

You add a text description of what should happen. The same logic as text-to-video prompts applies — action, camera, mood: "the frame comes to life, a light breeze in the hair, slow push-in, warm evening light". Sound
